THE KOUSIN PLEDGE
01 / KNOWLEDGEI pledge to remain perpetually in deep thought.
I will seek knowledge before judgment, truth before assumption, and understanding before action.
I pledge to know better, do better and be better.
I will continue educating myself and use what I learn to make wiser decisions for myself, my Kousins and my community.
02 / RESPONSIBILITYI pledge to practice responsibility.
I will know my limits, respect the limits of others, never pressure another person to participate in cannabis use, never drive impaired, respect shared spaces and remember that being informed is part of being responsible.
03 / COMMUNITYI pledge to look out for my Kousins.
I will recognize when someone may need help, take emergencies seriously, encourage preparedness and never allow fear, embarrassment or judgment to stop me from seeking help when someone’s safety is at risk.
I pledge to respect people who choose differently than I do.
Cannabis consumption is never a requirement of being a Kousin.
Whether someone uses cannabis, chooses not to use it or chooses to stop using it, I will respect their decision.
04 / JUSTICEI pledge to remember our history.
I will not celebrate cannabis culture while forgetting the people and communities disproportionately harmed by cannabis criminalization.
I will support education, justice, fair policy, access to legitimate record-clearing resources and meaningful opportunities for communities that have carried the consequences of prohibition.
05 / EQUITYI pledge to pursue equity.
I believe communities disproportionately affected by criminalization deserve meaningful opportunities to participate in and benefit from the legal cannabis economy.
I will support Black entrepreneurship, ownership, education, opportunity and community reinvestment.
06 / SERVICEI pledge to protect the next generation.
I will never encourage children or teenagers to use cannabis.
I will support honest, age-appropriate education that helps young people recognize unknown substances, understand consequences, resist pressure, protect one another and make informed decisions about their futures.
I pledge to serve.
I understand that being a Kousin means more than wearing KKΔ.
I will look for opportunities to feed families, support students, strengthen neighborhoods, share resources, volunteer my time and leave my community better than I found it.
07 / LEGACYI pledge to build.
I will encourage education, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, creativity, leadership and economic opportunity.
I will help create pathways for the Kousins coming after me.
I pledge to represent KKΔ with purpose.
I understand that these letters represent education, responsibility, justice, equity, service, community and deep thought.
I will never use them as an excuse for hazing, coercion, reckless behavior, discrimination or harm.
I pledge to leave something behind.
I will measure being a Kousin not simply by what I bought, what I wore or what I received—but by what I learned, what I contributed, who I helped and what became better because I was here.
I AM A KOUSIN. ♡
I THINK DEEP.
I MOVE WITH PURPOSE.
I LOOK OUT FOR MY PEOPLE.
I SERVE MY COMMUNITY.
I STAND FOR JUSTICE.
I BUILD OPPORTUNITY.
I PROTECT THE FUTURE.
AND I WILL LEAVE MY COMMUNITY BETTER THAN I FOUND IT. ♡PRETTY. PARTICULAR. PERPETUALLY IN DEEP THOUGHT.
